Odd Thought: Fae

The thing with the Fae X-men/Brotherhood thing going on, where your vows are literally as binding as the laws of physics if physics were based on strength of body and spirit-

Wouldn't flyting be a Thing, in that instance?  And the grandiose speeches that heroes and villains give, monologuing as a free action (as we say in my D&D group).  Those would literally be displays of power, as well as reckless overconfidence if you're vowing all over the place in public that your enemies will fall (and that their mothers dress them funny) etc.  I figure for every time one cannot complete an oath (or deliberately fails to, or breaks one), there's a loss of some of your magical energy, up to and including life force, as well as painful backlash.  That's if you're not so constrained by your vows that you cannot consider deliberately disobeying in the first place.

I keep thinking of thing that require a lot more brain power than I can bring to bear at the moment, but which I want to see.  Edit- to clarify, this suddenly requires a much better head for poetry and literary references than I have.

I am doing okay. We've been adapting since Dad's passing. We're still working on getting our building sold or given back to the bank or disposed of in some practical way now that we're no longer fighting for it (the bank kept running hot and cold on us, so fuck'em, they can grind the wheels of foreclosure for a few months while we move on our own timeframe). Lost a cat recently, but it wasn't painful for him, just- surprising for us.

Also I got rearended this morning by a blithering idiot with no insurance (and her foot still on the gas, so she bounced a couple of times). *But!* I am relatively okay, *and* I did not let her drive me into the crowd of bikers that were in front of me! (And her car definitely got the worst of it. Mine is a little scratched and the bumper's hanging low on one side. Hers was stove the fuck in and the engine was hissing steam. She still drove it off.)

All the actual sucky things that have happened aside, I am feeling pretty okay. Boyfriend has found some employment, we're gonna have a great GenCon, and there were fields and fields of fireflies that we drove past on the way home t'other night^^ Nothing new story-wise, just rolling a D&D game around in my head.
