Jan. 16th, 2011 05:45 am-or so it seemed in this one. Shiny new thing- I got my stuff together, software and hard, and it finally gelled^^
Azutara/hints of Zutara and Jin-Zuko/not a Happy Fun Shipping Video.
Anything worth doing is worth overdoing- I wanted to do Hellfire with Azula instead of the more classically fitting Ozai, and of course I couldn't just edit to the relevant part of the over-long piece of music. That would just be too *easy*...

Been fooling around with craft foam to make drow armor- there's a bit of a secret project going on in my larp for next year's big event, and I'm working on seeing if I can contribute to it, even if I can't make it to this year's big event to volunteer. So- armguards, of a suitably spidery and spiky nature. 'Tcha think?
Tomorrow I'll get some little buckles and see about doing up straps for them.

So I'm deep in cleaning end-game and the shiny dice-bags are (at least somewhat) selling. So I'm working on more of those, investing in supplies like leather with my birthday money, and I've laid hands on Sculpey again. Am now bubbling with ideas for bag-medallions, statues of figures both original and fannish, and all that there madness. This evening I made a head that I hope will end up being a full-on puss-in-boots figure. With a table and chair and clothes 'n everything. She has a scar across her nose and I already know how her hat's going to cock over one ear and how one will be shredded. I can (theoretically) root in doll-hair to style to my whim.
Someone tell me I'm not completely bonkers?

Well, yes, I'm stark raving nuts, but it feels so good to be bubbling again, I don't give a fuck. Besides, this time around, I think I've got a better handle on how to do what I want, keep the pieces safe from squishing in the midst of working, and all-over skill and technical know-how.
Someone tell me I'm not completely bonkers?

Well, yes, I'm stark raving nuts, but it feels so good to be bubbling again, I don't give a fuck. Besides, this time around, I think I've got a better handle on how to do what I want, keep the pieces safe from squishing in the midst of working, and all-over skill and technical know-how.
First up-
For the lovely :iconbecky2112:, an ink-ed version of the scribble I did for her drabbles in the drow!Fire Family AU.
Second up- I'm working on cleaning the house. It is end-game, I have a month before ACen and my first house-guest in many years stays before and after the con. I am GOING to DO THIS. May God strike me down if I don't put in some substantial effort every day between now and the first week in May.
Third- melodramatic vows aside, I just made a deal with a local game store to sell my shiny dice bags. We've got an initial price set while we see how popular they are and what designs move, and I can make more and bring 'em by and see what works. And the prices, I think, are quite reasonable (even if I would balk at paying that kind of money, even for a shiny handmade satin-lined bag. With pretty beads on the cords. But I'm righteously paranoid with my budget, so who's to say).
4th- am working on random fantasy cheesecake, namely the ol' tiefling-rogue-and-paladin pairup I've had in my head forever. I like odd couples. Have a gander, see if anything looks off.
5th- will get back to writing eventually. It always goes this way- I get fits and spurts of something, periods of really intense productivity, then fzzt for a while. It usually cycles back around, I'm just hoping for a shorter turnaround than the usual couple of years.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is another of my oddities- shiny dice-bags, for the gamer whose dice appreciate a pretty home. Eventually if I get enough of'em on hand, I'll sell them, possibly on etsy (not sure where else to put them where they'd get fair price, not without making my own site and advertising hard in all the nerd hangouts I know). I'm also going to be working on some more masculine (but still shiny!) designs, as soon as I can get my Singer in for a tune-up- it's starting to make funky noises and jam, and I don't like the thought of sewing leather under those circumstances.

Sep. 9th, 2009 09:39 pm-Only shinier. I have a shiny again- and this time it's meant as an advertising flier, selling my talents as a character-illustrator. I'll get it printed up nicely and hopefully my friend will let me leave a few at his comic shop, and other geek hangouts will be similarly generous with their bulletin-board space.
And who knows, maybe someone will want me to do up a picture or two to their description. I like creating faces, bodies, clothes according to neat descriptions, and if I can charge a little for the time spent in doing so, that's nothing to sneeze at. I'm starting out small- I'm an amateur and have no following, plus art is a luxury and times are troubled- but Mom wants me to put a line in about 'prices good until Nov. 30,' at which point, for holiday rush, I should charge a little more.
I think I'll just wait and see if I get any bites in the first place, but I'll think about it.
