Some sort of trance-magic or astral travel? Perhaps it’s something she’s doing to let her body heal or to wield great powers in defense of her kingdom-
Ooh. Perhaps it’s something she was bound to, in days long past, and has been a wandering, protective spirit in the kingdom for years and years, possibly even centuries. Her own time is long past, but she just wants to fulfill her duties, break the curse, and get home to her body where she can take up her life again. Only it’s not going to be as easy as all that…
I just see someone having to comfort this poor, raging barbarian princess, dressed in dusty furs and beaded leather from the oldest days of the realm when it was tribe and chief, not land and king. She is like King Arthur come again- but she’s lost out of time and with no way home, because her kin are long gone or living in this strange palace built around her living tomb, many times descendents of her brothers and sisters.
Gets a bit awkward, ya know.
Something about her long hair being bound to an iron ring, or being cut from it… to either free the dead or trap the soul, I don’t know.
Now I just need a dynasty-long plot to fill in the slumber-years.
In other news, still doing major repairs on back apartment with Mom. Roaches are long dead, but now we're just having to do all the cleanup work, and the painting turned into a biiiig project when I put scraper to crack and immediately went down to the cardboard, which then proceeded to peel (in uneven sheets and layers) off the entire wall. All that and we still have to raise the water-heater about eighteen inches.
