The pacing in this show is kind of off, it feels to me.  It's like things are going by very fast while at the same time the actual important events are going at a crawl.  I like how Korra is flawed, but at the same time I'm seeing a lot of flaws on everyone's part and not a lot of real strong bonds.  I'm hoping that these will get focused on more later.

The brief moment of a united goal for Team Avatar was interesting, but both too late and over too soon.  These kids are friends, they'll always leap to each others' defense when something forces them to react, but they're not a posse with a real solid goal in mind, like in the first series.

I suppose that's what's really bothering me- aside from just generally 'find out what's wrong in the city', 'stop Amon from terrorizing the populace' and 'learn to grow up and become better human beings', we're most of the way through the season and we still don't know what the real goal is.  Tarlok's just become a much more major threat, Amon and Sato as well, there's this Yukone mystery from forty years ago, Korra's made zip in the way of progress on airbending and the spiritual side of things- and there's, what, three episodes left in the season?  Of what was originally supposed to be a single, self-contained arc?

That's an awful lot to get resolved, wrapped up, or left with intriguing partial revelations by the time we set up camp for season two.  I'm just wondering when we'll get to see Korra find a problem she can solve, within or without herself, and apply its lesson across the board.

Some thoughts on her-  Korra seems like she's been kept cooped up in the compound, given the best physical and combative bending instructions- but not a whole lot on political savvy or what 'balance' really means, and what her actual, real duties are supposed to be.  I would have thought that would have been important.  Yeah, each time the Avatar cycle rolls through again it's a tossup of what kind of person you're going to get, but if the White Lotus is now suddenly guarding and preparing the new Avatar- or indeed, if anyone had a consistent litany of Things This Guy Should Know in the past- shouldn't they have pushed at least some of that?  Or is it a matter of 'each Avatar will face their own destinies and problems, and will be fated to find the way that works best for them and the world, so you can't really micromanage their educations in that regard'?  History lessons and current events should feature, at the least.

I'm really hoping that some of this spirituality stuff she's supposed to learn will also help her communicate a little better with her friends, and them with her.  I like that they're all flawed and awkward, but I'd really like to see some of that loving and honorable behavior again.  Bull in a china shop is not good at any level, it seems to me.
