Extra-Meme Fic- Escape
Extended prompt-fic from my mpreg meme, for Attackfish- brainwashed!Zuko, and what happens when he meets up with the Gaang again. Continuation of this-
The princess has learned some of the ins and outs of palace life in her brief time there. She knows the strings to pull amidst the wives and their servants in order to gain time with their royal husband, and today she keeps him company, sitting idly beside the throne while Bosco’s shaggy head competes for space in her lap with her pregnant belly.
Her green-clad maids know to wait at the side exits, and the princess is a model young wife, attentive, quiet, and stable. The coming child has settled her some, they think.
The prince knows better than to come out too soon.
Today’s audiences are cut short and dismissed- Long Feng and his agents give her a firm glance as they walk in, but she pays them no heed, only rests one hand under Kuei’s and the other behind Bosco’s ears. The rumble of distant earthbending grows louder, and at last a hurricane’s roar precedes the great throne-room doors being blown off their hinges.
The princess keeps her face turned to the left, hidden behind a curtain of false hair.
The three- no, four of them, a girl who must have been doing the earthbending, there they are, standing off with the Dai Li and claiming to need to speak with the Earth King, being on his side and very much not afraid to break down doors to get to him. Kuei is understandably dubious.
They put down their weapons, are bound in stone cuffs, and denounce Long Feng for a traitor, a brain-washer and a thief of power. When he proclaims their story all lies and them enemies of the state, Bosco raises his head from her lap and ambles over to the Avatar, licking him.
Kuei’s most junior wife squeezes his hand, and he considers.
“I’ll hear what he has to say.”
…
Long Feng is growing more and more indignant as Aang lists his offenses, and counters them with whispers in the king’s ear that Sokka can’t quite make out but is pretty sure would make him scream in frustration. That girl that’s sitting by his side hasn’t moved much, except to stroke the bear’s ears and to glance at them sidelong. She’s pretty in a mask-like sort of way, although he can tell she’s pretty far along and that kind of freaks him out- the last time he was within thirty feet of a pregnant lady the baby happened and that was an exciting day…
“-how can you believe these children, over your own most loyal advis-” FOOM
Everyone looks up- at where the concubine or queen or whatever she is has reached across the Earth King to blast fire at the Grand Secretariat. She looks up and behind that curtain of hair, her face is a snarl that’s weirdly familiar.
“Because I can tell you they’re telling the truth.”
Annnnd the voice is creepy. And Sokka’s reevaluating the mask-like effect of the makeup, because now he can see the left side of her face and where the rice powder outlines and softens a huge scar around her eye and oh my gods-
…
The rest of the day goes by in a series of flashes, each stepping up in weirdness. The Earth King’s- wife? –knocks their most hated opponent in the city for a loop, fends off his underlings, tells the king to listen to them, they’re young and stupid but right, and then faints dead away.
And somehow she turns out to be Zuko, in the most ridiculous disguise he’s ever seen, except Katara’s running her hands over him and gasping like she’s seen a ghost-
But he wakes up, and the Earth King calls his guards, and girl?Zuko accompanies them as a witness to all of Long Feng’s crimes, inasmuch as they apply to mind-bending and brainwashing. They stand together on the train, surrounded by a quartet of guards and getting a great many stares.
Sokka just really wishes he’d take off the padding. It’s creeping him out, seeing the obnoxious jerk Prince Ponytail standing like a frightened, exhausted pregnant woman. Even the long, loose hair straggling out of its confines is less creepifying.
Kuei the king is looking at him with an expression of deep concern, holding his hand. Zuko looks like he’s torn between clinging to Kuei and cringing as far away as possible. The young king is trying to be comforting, and it’s just not working.
“My dear, I-“
She looks at him, eyes wide and flatly gold amid the whites. “Your Majesty- Kuei- the princess has been your wife these last seven months. The princess likes you- maybe even loves you. The princess knows you had nothing to do with what was done to her. I am not the princess.”
This, more than the revelation of the Dai Li’s subversion and the entire war, seems to put a sad frown on the king’s face. Sokka just kind of wishes he were elsewhere.

I'm curious as to what story Long Feng spun to explain the princess' odd genitalia to Kuei, or if he just had that surgically altered while he was doing all the mind bending.
Sokka's "make Zuko stop looking pregnant" feelings, were both funny and sad, and oh, Sokka... Also, babies do not happen you silly boy.
I'm starting to think the worst thing Azula ever did strategically was send Zuko there. He spent those months learning to plot, and smile, and work the system, and getting really really pissed.
