For the Hell Of It- Fandom Meme

Yoinked variously from Spyridona and Beckyh2112.

Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

Just one question, please, but it can (and perhaps should) have sub-parts.

Question can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

If it comes up a fandom I don't know, I will lie like a rug (or possible ask to be introduced, if it's got a cool title)

What do the non highborn drow do in there free time?

From some of the material I've seen, I figure that there aren't a lot of non-highborn drow (not unless their city's big enough and old enough to have had a lot of houses go the way of the dodo, but with survivors that have slunk down amongst the slaves and merchants without hope of raising a banner again until they band together and demand acknowledgment). Nevertheless, there would be plenty who've descended from layered generations of cousins who aren't anywhere near the main line of house succession, who serve as house soldiers and higher servants.

In their free time- what there would be of it- there's probably wagers on fights and races, angry!sex, drinking of vile mushroom liquors, chess-equivalent games, and I can totally see there being arts and crafts for personal use. Spider-silk embroidery, gem-carving, calligraphy on vellum made from some unfortunate being's skin...

I can't really see there being sports the drow themselves would partake in aside from combat training- 'beneath their dignity', although it's perfectly fine to wager on matches between the lesser races, especially if it's popular enough to sponsor house teams and compete them publicly.

Although, now I'm starting to think of Queen-of-Hearts croquet and drider-polo for the more active and fearless Matron or First Daughter...
